Amazing Anagrams

This week in Reading we had to figure out some anagrams. Anagrams are words made out of other words an example could be that wolf is an anagram of flow. We got given this sheet of 10 words and we had to figure out the anagrams. This was a pretty difficult task but I showed perseverance and grit by completing it. Some of these were very difficult, one of the most difficult ones was gallery and allergy or Paws and Wasp.

Here is my Work.

Have you ever completed an anagram sheet?

All About Me

This week we learnt how to use the canva AI generator. Our task was to make a poster about ourselves, we got our images from canva AI. I added stuff like my favorite video game, my favorite movie, my favorite superhero and my favorite TV show. I hope you like my creation.

What do You Think of my Poster?

Radical Reading

This week in reading we are learning about text features, we read a story about Elon Musk and his life. Our task was to see text features in the text and make a poster explaining five of them, my five were subheadings, captions, index, photos and bold letters.

Another part of this task was to find out what the main idea of the text was, I thought that the main idea was that one man could create so much things if you work enough.

I enjoyed finishing this task it was fun to find all of the text features in the task and to figure out what the main idea was.

Have you learnt about text features?

Terrific Treaty of Waitangi

This week we started working on a slideshow with 9 activities that we had to complete, I completed 6 of the activities and I will show you 3 of them. I will show you task 3, task 4 and task 5. If you didn’t already know, the treaty of Waitangi was a peace treaty between the Pakeha and the Maori, there has been a lot of speculation with the translation of this treaty being valid but we didn’t really learn about that.

My first task was a bunch of questions about the writing of the treaty. An example of one of these questions would be “When did Hobson make a proclamation that banned private land sales?” and the answer was on the 30th of January 1840.

The task of the second activity was to write about all of the main people from the treaty of Waitangi. For example one of the key people was James Busby and his part of writing the treaty was that he was a co creator of the treaty along with William Hobson.

The task of the third activity was to find the difference between to Maori words and two English words.

Preposterous PBL

For the last couple weeks our hub has been learning and working about earth systems and how they work. We went through five main topics, soil, water, wildlife, rocks and air. After we learnt all of this information we were tasked to make an island, a continent or a planet. We had many means of making these things, they vary from a diorama to a map. I chose to make a map, but before this I planned my island and then after that I did a rough draft, the rough draft took a couple of days to complete and that was mostly from brain storming ideas. I then started my final copy which to almost a week, I added a lot more to it including huts and caves.

This is my finished copy.

I loved making this map, it took a while but I think it payed off. I loved drawing all the tiny details and adding new things. I am really proud of my island.

Have you ever made a map?

MeMe and Me

This week in reading we read a book called MeMe and Me, this book was pretty interesting I will give you a summary. The book starts with Nina wanting to get a phone, she works everyday until she gets enough money to get a phone, after she gets a phone she still has to work to pay her top up. When she gets her phone the first thing she does is post a photo of herself, little did she know her eyes were blue in the photo but they were brown in real life. Then she gets introduced to MeMe who was almost a twin they looked exactly the same. Nina and MeMe become friends and they have fun together until Nina’s battery goes low, suddenly MeMe become angry and she start being mean to Nina. Once the phone goes flat Nina starts imagining the sound of phone buzzing, then she goes to sleep. That night she had a nightmare when MeMe came out of the phone and she went in the phone, after this she cuts her sim card and appreciates not having a phone. The task for this week was we had to use quotes from the story and write a pros and cons list about them.

I found this task quite interesting. I think you should read the book too because it was pretty good.

Do you have a phone?

Reading with Rocks

This week in reading we are learning about rocks. The task we had to do was, make a short description on a rock including what type of rock it is. We also had to make four questions and get a buddy to answer them, my buddy Joe Joe. We had to use a website which has a lot of information on rocks. I learnt that there is three types of rocks, Igneous, Sedimentary and Metamorphic. Igneous rocks come from lava cooling, Sedimentary rocks have layers of sediment in them and Metamorphic rocks are Igneous or Sedimentary rocks which change into something else.

I really enjoyed this task. It was really interesting because I didn’t know anything about rocks before this task. I overall loved this task.

Do you know anything about rocks?

Letter to Future me

This week in writing we got to pick from a selection of tasks. I did a letter to my future self, i talked about my interests and what job I want when I am older. I am planing to read it 2028, where I will see if my wishes payed off. The goal was to use paragraphs in your writing, I did four paragraphs. I talked about how I am writing the letter right after spider-man 2 comes out and that I hope my future self is enjoying spider-man 3 and the other spider-man media like beyond the spider-verse. I hope that I have a job as an animator when I am older. I also told my future self about my drawing journey.

Ridiculously Remarkable Reading

This week in Reading we had to pick a task from a variety of options. I chose to do the task about the Haka, we had to find a buddy and answer questions with them, my buddy was my friend Joe Joe. He answered the questions very well since he likes to learn about Maori culture. There were 7 questions, the first question we had to answer was “when was the haka first created?” and Joe Joe answered “The haka was first made in 1820”. The second question I asked Joe Joe was “What is the haka” and Joe Joe answered “the haka is a Maori dance created by Maori chief te rauparaha”. There is 5 more questions which you will see in my DLO.

I enjoyed interviewing Joe Joe it was really fun. I found it fun and if there is another task with interviewing other people I will do it. I hoped you enjoyed my blog post. I overall found this a fun experience.

Have you ever interviewed someone?
